LAFAYETTE (AP) - One of five people accused of burning a cross to intimidate three black men in Beauregard Parish has pleaded guilty to a civil rights charge, U.S. Attorney Don Washington said.
Prosecutors said Berry Lynn Harris, 21, of Sulphur, and four fellow Ku Klux Klan members burned the cross to intimidate three black men who recently had moved to the Longville area from Mississippi to work at a nearby plant.
