G. Gordon's son, Tom, is a talk show host in the Phoenix, AZ area, on Sunday PM for two hours. He also subs for vacationing or ill local talk hosts. He ran an unsuccessful race for a US House of Rep. seat, but lost in the primary to an even more conservative Republican, Jeff Flake (ya, that's his name!).
Tom's voice and radio style aren't at all like his Dad. Not as hard-hitting. He is, of course, conservative and politically astute, but if you didn't hear his last name, you wouldn't know he's G. Gordon's son!

I have a huge crush on Laura Ingraham. She's articulate, principled, smart, knowledgeable, sharp, vivacious, *funny*... The list goes on and on. She always sounds like she's having a ball, and can't resist doing hammy voice impressions. I even like the way she stammers when she's formulating a thought or reacting to an outrageous statement by some liberal. Damn, she's adorable.
Locally, Chris Baker's talk show 2pm-6pm on KPRC 950 AM Houston is very, very good. He's staunchly conservative, but his show is one-of-a-kind. He used to be a stand-up comedian, so he has a very quick wit and his show is often screamingly funny, even while he's making serious points. During the downed-jet-in-China standoff, he threatened to cook the Chinese pandas in the national zoo if China didn't back down, and invited callers to suggest recipes. The winners were the Panda Pita Pocket, and the box of Panda Helper. He prefers to call liberals "Utopians", which is a good label, because it also covers those starry-eyed idealists who don't actually consider themselves "liberals".

"Sounds like your jealous that your local secret made it to the big time!"Yeah, kinda. I just really miss his great bits, like the alternate universe where rap "music" didn't exist, etc. Oh well, I'm glad Beck's successful, but I could use less hand-wringing. I gotta admit, though, he's worlds better than the juvenille moron they put on in his place, a cretin by the name of Todd Schnitt. Fortunately, Hannity is on 3-6 on the new newstalker in town, 1040 WWBA.

The last time I heard Brother Ken was last year, when I worked for a few months in Savannah, GA. His "egg-sucking dog white liberal" rant is just as good as Savage's "red diaper doper babies" rant, IMHO.

Here in Eureka I listen to and rate in this order=RUSH,Medved, Hannity and an hour of Reagan. For RUSH subs it's Hedgecock and Williams. I bounce between Medved and Hannity depending on the guest and topic.
To: Ancesthntr
Walter E. Williams, that middle initial is always emphasized when be subs for Rush....You do have to agree the parodies all have a ring of truth to them. Brilliant, when he can take a liberal concept and show it for what it really is.

CO. Neil Bortz,
Does anyone know if he is carried in Phoenix?
If so when and where?
Thanks in advance,
Pliny

I do not like Sean Hannity. He is like an order of magnitude less talented than Rush any day. But his heart is in the right place.

Dear Mo1,
I only donate monies to religious projects.
But since, like President Bush, I start every day studing God's word and in prayer, I am certain that God would want me to donate to the Freepers.
So you can count on me making a monthly contribution.
Thank you for telling me about this worthy opertunity.
Sincerely,
Pliny

While they're trying to break into AM, we're going to own the internet. One step ahead...

I get the biggest kick out of Walter William's references to his wife. I keep hoping those no-humor leftists are hearing those remarks and taking him seriously. Can you imagine Ms. Feminazi Hyphenated-Lastname hyperventilating when he says some of the things he does? It cracks me up every time! Especially what he says he gets her for Christmas, etc.

Savage cuts to the chase. In my humble opinion, he is also insane.Yeah, he's a nut case, but he tells the unvarnished truth. Wouldn't want him for a neighbor....

Ken Hamblin (The Black Avenger) used to be on our Rush station. He was replaced by Dr. Laura (to my disappointment), and Dr. Laura was replaced by Sean Hannity.I thought Hamblin was OK, I'll never figure the Dr. Laura thing.

Sorry to offer a contrarian view, but I can't stomach talk radio in general. Regardless of ideology, most of the hosts come off as loudmouths, if not outright a-holes. There are enough other outlets where I can find information without my nerves being grated on.
I'll make an exception for Liddy, who I usually find intelligent and entertaining, but if given the choice, I'll opt for sports talk over political-talk. Those guys are getting just about as bad, though. These days I generally listen to a CD or drive in silence.
