I hope he drives home the point on the stock Dividends Tax cut. How this is gonna help peoples 401ks and retirement plans(An accountant and I discussed this... He blieves this is gonna help my 401K and Retirement plan significantly .... he wants to see the details though before he says Yes it does). It will help many who lost alot when the bubble "burst"(or was stolen). Now how about those capital gains? Or is that too much to ask for right now?

We'll just have to find out what he has to say. It is so nice to have a VP that has no presidential aspirations. We can trust what the man says, not wonder if he is working for his own private motives.
And, Miss Marple, founder of Cheney Chicks, I figured you would want to hear the VP! Pass it along, if you would. It will be nice to hear somebody tell the truth instead of having to listen to the liberal media lies. God bless! By the way, I am almost finished with "The Right Man"...you will not agree with every single thing David Frum says, but you will come away with the feeling that he ses President Bush as a smart, tough leader that is totally underestimated by the Dems and the media. The book puts to rest the notion that Cheney or anybody else "runs the White House"...he says Bush is in full command of his White House. It is an interesting read because he began working for Bush as a real sceptic. He came away with admiration and respect. He goes into great explanations about how the media gets it wrong about Bush all the time and how the media doesn't tell the truth. Maybe that's why the media trashed the book, huh?

He blieves this is gonna help my 401K and Retirement plan significantly This plan covers a lot of bases. I have no stock income and am unemployed and STILL the $400 dollar per child deduction will mean $1200. less in taxable income for me. Even I, an under 30K earned with no stock, and laidoff will save about $2-300 under this package.

You wrote:

With the rest of your retirement plan, ask him to explain why you should shift to a company just because it has dividends, and if there are good companies paying dividends, ask your broker why he didn't suggest them before the government subsidy for their payouts started.

Bush will have to take this to the American People and point out just who isn't for the plan and tell why.
Because they are all democrats even McCain is a rat! Who wants to keep the American People down. Didn't McCain just vote for a pay increase for for his sorry A$S!
Bush needs to start now and everyday for weeks come out to the American People and sell this plan!
Cheney won't cut it! Bush has to do it from the White House and he needs to do it today!
If not its as dead as a duck in hunting season!
With fake republicans and rat democrats around!

There is a distinct difference between "free" and "deferred". IRA's and 401K accounts are deferred from taxation. If they derive from direct income and not from dividends they will (and should) still be taxed when withdrawn. It seems logical that under this proposed change the deposits derived from dividends (and the interest accrued to them?) would not be taxed at withdrawal.
I'd be interested in hearing what some of our more financially astute freepers see as the implications (if any) of the proposed change vis a vis IRA and 401K retirement accounts.

He oughtta just stop saying it then...Dubyuh's obviously the Leader of the FReeWorld and to keep saying it is almost demeaning, IMHO...MUD

David Frum has been defending his book all over the place as the media pulls out a few things that could be construed as negative. It has been ridiculous, to say the least. The book is worth buying, IMO.
