I will say this much - people like mhking and Shannon Reeves have a right to be upset when they see their efforts wasted by someone who says/does something stupid. They furthermore have a right to ACT upon those feelings to prevent reoccurences.

And quite frankly, those who insist they have no right to do so are wrong.

MORE RAT SPEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE HERE, SOON REEVES WILL BE A RAT HERO!

So do you mean to tell me that the only black conservatives that you feel belong are from the Peterson/Keyes far right-wing camp? And the rest of us be damned?

Well, well, well. I guess there's no room for anyone else in your party. I'm sorry I intruded. I didn't realize that you were the final arbiter of all that is Republican.

Tell me. What will you do once you've driven all the "infidels" out of the party, Osama?

I haven't been calling for purges and thought control and driving people out of the party. Seems to me it's another part of the party that's been doing that.

I know you haven't - I addressed this to you, because it was a follow-up on another message from TLBSHOW which was addressed to you. Just linking for "completeness" as it were.

One more thing: There is no bigger "Rat Hero" nowadays than Trent Lott.

Well, excuse folks like Shannon Reeves and mhking for being angry when some GOP leader's idiotic comments or actions (at best) send their outreach efforts down the tubes. Bill Back and Trent Lott were stupid. They inserted their feet into their mouths and chewed vigorously.

Now, they are probably going to pay a price, which includes the fact that some people will LOSE CONFIDENCE in their ability to hold leadership positions. Trent Lott and Bill Back do not deserve free passes any more than Patty Murray deserves a free pass for her comments about bin Laden - which others here have ably denounced and slammed, and which will be used against her at an appropriate time, I hope, just as Lott's comments were dealt with appropriately (the Senate Republicans held a caucas to deal with that) and Shannon Reeves is properly addressing the matter now, and he has EVERY RIGHT to question Bill Back's judgement in this matter.

Steel's handpicked successor, Duf Sondheim, is a moderate. Bill Back is much more conservative, but has the backing of Gerry Parsky which makes him an automatic enemy of Steel.

This I did not know. Thank you for the info.

Why would Parsky back a conservative? I was under the impression that Parsky was one of the key "moderate" scumbags who is trying to destroy the GOP in California. He even backed liberal Democrat Riordan in the GOP primary, if I recall correctly.

And why would Steel back a "moderate" scumbag like Sondheim? It's all very confusing.

I agree, it makes no sense. But this is the California Republican Party, so it makes sense that it makes no sense.
