Subsequently the dog was put down once the Animal Shelter employees arrived.

From what I watched on T.V., it was played as if she turned herself in before she got into some serious trouble. It's kind of hard to hide a almost 3 mile long trail of blood on the payment, at least that is what witnesses were saying to the reporters.

I have seen this a couple of times. One lady tied her poodle to her corvette and forgot about it. She jumped into the car and was going to the local quick mart and somewhere remembered the poodle was behind tied. Lucky for her it was a bumpy curvy road and the poodle was really fast. All I had to do was treat the pads for road rash. The second was a redneck that had tied his horse to the back of the trailer and got distracted and took off for his next destination. Lucky for the horse he knew how to surf using his metal shoes. They were worn almost wafer thin. I suspect he surfed at least two miles on pavement. I treated him for a sore neck.
