Maybe Peterson is feeling the guilt and that is why he is acting like this

You know I think it's odd that the police would leak this story tonight, that they have found something in the bay, that may be a body, but we wont' go back in until Saturday. I think that's odd. Why would they tell us that? It may not even be her. It seems like they are purpusly leaking information in hopes of maybe getting the killer nervous enough to make a mistake. I don't know, that might seem crazy, but it just seems odd to me.
