Maybe Lacy was pregnant with some other dude's kid? Maybe she just hit the road and went off with the other dude?

Maybe Lacy was pregnant with some other dude's kid? Maybe she just hit the road and went off with the other dude?

And not take her purse? Or medications? Or any clothes? Or money? Or leave a 'Dear John' letter? That thought passed through my head as well, but the evidence just doesn't point that way.

And as to your questions about WHY people care about her, it's the whole story: A young, beautiful, happy woman on the verge of having her first child vanishes off the face of the earth on Christmas Eve...it's a story that naturally attracts peoples attention. Lately, our area seems to be pretty good at coming up with stories like these, but I assure you that it's an infamy we'd rather live without.

I also thought all of you might be interested to hear another bit of information to weigh into your discussion. I stopped by the search command center at the Red Lion this morning to pick up some fingerprint kits for my children, and I had the opportunity to offer my prayers to a couple of Laci's family members and Scott Petersons sister (I was also involved in the park search early on, because my own sister lives just down the street from Scott and Laci). As I was departing, I mentioned that I honestly hoped that the object in the water wasn't her. At that point, all of their faces hardened and several of them stated quite emphatically that it "absolutely cannot be her because Scott is NOT involved in this". I guess you had to be there, but this reaction from her family struck me as bizarre. It was almost like they were trying to convince themselves that he couldn't have done it. Their whole tone was just wrong, like they had to say it, but they weren't totally positive they believed it.

This whole thing is just so sad...
