Pooh videos, teddy bears, and other merchandise generate $1 billion in annual revenues for Disney--the same amount as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto combined.

I find this the most important statement in the entire article. I had no idea that Disney actually makes more money on (licensed) Pooh goods than it does on goods based on Walt's own original creations.

50% of Disney's lifeblood comes from Winnie the Pooh, and not Mickey Mouse?

One person doesn't make a realsolid sample size, but my experience is 100% pooh, 0% Mickey and others. They really just don't get interested in it. Can't say they are overly excited about pooh, but they don't get anything over mickey and friends...

From my experience with my kids, Disney has a big hit with The Wiggles (both of my kids love it). The mix of music and imagination really get's my kids attention, which isn't easy to do. I have seen enough Disney channel to appreciate Power Puff girls. I don't think that is good, but I don't think I have any other choices...
