Telling someone they MUST say the Pledge has the same effect as telling someone they MUST pray. If it is not in their hearts, than they are just empty words.

But little Mr. Woodbury also has the right not to graduate if he refuses to comply with an oral exam in history class to say the pledge.
And I believe he is in homeschooling right now, If I am correct..

Our Nation will not be Free until Men, Women and Children are Forced by gunpoint to Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United Sates of America on a daily basis. Any violators of the law should be shot and their bodies tossed into the public square for ridicule. Sarcasm Off!
