[history]
When the state's budget problems fully blossomed last year, Gov. Gray Davis and his minions clearly sought to minimize the situation.
It was, after all, a year in which Davis would be seeking re-election, and he didn't want to impose large new tax burdens or deeply slash state spending, either of which could alienate significant voter blocs. The 2002-03 budget that was finally enacted in September was "balanced" largely with borrowed money, inflated revenue estimates and bookkeeping tricks.

Davi$ Plan to Recover His Credibility for Run at White House.. LOL

Assuming he can make it all go away in time for 2004.

I don't believe this. Gray would never lie to us.

Clinton inflated the deficit in 1993 so he could welch on that "middle class tax cut" he promised. This is right out of the RAT funny money financial handbook.

Why do I have a harder time believing anything that Walters says than what Davis says.
Walters, other opeders from the Bee, the editors and publishers have been in bed with Davis since he showed up as MoonBeam's aid back in the 1970's.
Walters never meet a tax that he didn't love and hates Prop 13. I trust him even less than I do Davis.
Walters and all the left wing mediots knew about this deficit and said a little but not much before the election.

such a huge number would also make it easier to sell new state taxes to the Legislature and the publicBingo! The dems are in heaven. They will pass a massive tax increase, and know the people of Kali will never vote them out.

I'm deliberately posting this reply at the moment the "Failed Governor of CA" starts his "State of the State" speech.
Governer Ronald Reagan, while running for President, said in IA that one of his future Democrat opponents "should be tried for GRAND LARCENY!"
This is Gray's GRAND LARCENY and he should be charged and tried!!!
Democrats disgraced the White House and now the formerly greatest state in the nation!!!

I just caught a snipped of the O'Reilly Factor on Fox.
The commentator (missed his name) just savaged Davis and his mal-administration for selling out the entire state in exchange for getting re-elected.
I love Fox.

"his mal-administration"Far out... Maaaaaaaan!!!
Personally, I prefer malevolent administration!!!
They are desperately trying to spit-shine this terd and it ain't working!!!

At the start he congratulated all the new and incumbent legislators for their dedication, blah blah blah.. This guy must get about 15 minutes of sleep a night. The rest of the time he's paddling his a$$ further up the Valley of DE-Nial.
As they panned the crowd, you could see all the smug little Rats sitting there, their little minds spinning how they will try to get re-elected and what kind of new car they will buy on our dollar.
How many times did he blame the "National Recession", and say that "we must work Together, Together"?
And then he had the audacity to claim all the great things that have been accomplished, all the Cal Grants and scholarships that have been and will be handed out. I wish one of the RePubs would have stood up or anyone andshouted , "UHHH Guv and How many of those scholarships go to Illegals?" Of course, he would have said , that's the Feds fault. ;-|
What was that comment about 300(?) miles of freeways being built or fixed up?
Overall, I give it 2 BIG PUKES. One now and one Friday when specifics come out.

Valley of DE-NialI like that one!

"I give it 2 BIG PUKES."Well, on Channel 3 (www.thekcrachannel.com) my friend, Assemblyman Dave Cox, Steve Swatt and Tom Sullivan, along with Jonathon Coupal were all real busy givin it to 'em with both barrels blazin!!!
Sullivan said his sources were telling him that Davis wants to run for Vice President so he can run in someone elses shadow like he's done leading up to his run for Governor.
Steve Swatt, Channel 3's political analyst started sputtering and almost laughing, but managed to mumble something about the closeness of his re-election and that maybe he'd better wait for something in an "off year" situation. You had to see it to appreciate it!!!
After they got done "spanking" the failed Governor, Jonathon Coupal, the "Keeper of Prop 13" was interviewed and he's already gearing up the grassroots effort to slay the dragon of attacks on Prop 13, along with all other attempts to raise or create new taxes.
All of 'em were absolutely virtually laughing at Depression Davis' assertion that he's gonna create 500,000 new jobs. Pointing out that that is preposterously low and that if nobody did ANYTHING, we ALREADY create 250,000 EACH YEAR AS IT IS!!!
He sure won't have to be a pole vaulter to get over that hurdle. I won't go into the Mike Tessele illustration of how closing the Crapitol & Legislature, CalTrans, Corrections, Resources Agency and all K-12 elementary schools wouldn't clear this depression inducing deficit without every man, woman & CHILD writing an additional check for $700 to pick up the balance.
This gives all new meaning to "Checks & Balances!"

Walters makes a very compelling and convincing charge for which I would highly urge the California State Republican assemblymen and senators to look into before signing on to any of the Davis's liberal tax increase schemes.
Davis has a proven track record of slimy political practices that he surely must have learned at the knees of the the master of political sleaze, Clinton.
