I surely hope Cornyn has better judgement than Eisenhower and Bush Sr. The U.S. Supreme Court justices appointed would make a jackal toss its cookies.

Not arguing with your assessment of the judges, but some of them flip-flopped after their appointments. Big time! How does anyone predict that?

If polar turnarounds were commonplace the whole judicial nomination wouldn't be any better than a crapshoot. I do not consider what was done by Justices Warren, Brennan(?) and Souter to have been simply a turnaround.
Sudden "revelations" of that magnitude leave me more than a little suspicious. I don't even suspect the presidents involved because they are, almost universally, at the mercy of their advisors, especially in the case of Eisenhower.

Judge me not by what I say but by what I do.
