Saddam announces Exploratory Committee 10:18 AM PST by Dallas WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein will say on Monday he will run for the White House in 2004, promising to lead the country in a new direction and blasting President Bush for failing to secure the nation's economic or domestic security. "On nearly every issue of importance to the country -- national security, the economy, health care, education, energy policy -- President Bush is leading the country either down the wrong path or not leading at all," said Saddam, who will officially step aside as the House's top Democrat when Congress convenes next week. Saddam, of Iraq, who had made no secret of his presidential intentions, said he would officially form a campaign committee on Monday that would allow him to raise funds for his race. It will be the second presidential bid for Saddam, who brings an established political network and fund-raising ability to the race but failed to lead Democrats back to House control in four consecutive elections since 1994. He also must convince Democratic activists yearning for a fresh voice that he is the candidate most capable of doing battle with Bush in 2004. "I look forward to challenging President Bush and offering a distinctive choice and different direction for our domestic, economic and national security policies," Saddam said in a statement. Saddam joins a rapidly growing Democratic field that includes North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and civil rights activist Al Sharpton. Others are expected to follow soon.

LOL! You are so right! Seriously, it's really sad to see the RATS and the RAT media show more support for Saddam than for President Bush. What a sad commentary for the United States. Maybe that's why President Bush ignores most of this background noise. If he didn't, he'd go mad.

YOU beat me to it! My post took longer to make! Thats why!
Damn! LOL!

Saddam will appoint a stooge or a relative to the position before stepping down. If he does, the Iraqis will know he is on the ropes. He is as good as gone if he "steps down". The US will then walk on in to Baghdad and his pathetic successor will simply run for it.

Saddam Plans 'Historic Address' to Iraq People Tomorrow Mother of all epiphanies bump.

Every time Saddam gives a "historic speech" - usually 10 or 20 times a year - he simply denounces the US and says that 'the infidels must pay.'

"I resign and am running as a democrat candidate for 2004. My campaign slogan: 'I may be the Butcher of Bagdad, but at least I am not another Lawyer!'"

Saddam probably thinks he'd be welcome in Washington state, what with Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Dimwit) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Osama) there to protect him.
