And I just glanced back at the article again. I noticed how it made a big point of talking about OOOOH! Look how many death penalties have come out of this ONE parish!! And that made me want to scream something from the rooftops--will you excuse me while I scream this out to everyone on this thread?
THIS ARTICLE MAKES JEFFERSON PARISH SOUND LIKE A PLACE THAT HAS AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF DEATH PENALTY SENTENCES GIVEN. THE ADJOINING PARISH, ORLEANS PARISH, IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. VIRTUALLY NO PROSECUTOR EVER, EVER GETS A JURY TO IMPOSE THE DEATH PENALTY IN ORLEANS PARISH!!!!!!
Funny how they leave that out, isn't it? I could literally almost count on one hand, the number of times the death penalty has been given in Orleans parish, and I'm talking about 20 years of my noticing the general trends of Orleans parish criminal proceedings. AND COMPARED TO ORLEANS PARISH, FOR VIOLENT CRIME, JEFFERSON PARISH PRACTICALLY LOOKS LIKE THE GARDEN OF EDEN!!
