One call, bad or good......and it was holding, not interference and a good call....did not make that game, one way or the other.
Ohio's front four had Dorsey off balance the whole game. OSU's passing game was non-extant.
It was a very even game (except for turnovers), with a few bad calls going both ways, and in the end, Ohio State won because they stopped Miami on a beautiful goal line stand, when Miami had to score to win.
If ever there was a legitimate end to a great game, it was this one. And when you consider that all the 'experts' said OSU didn't even deserve to be IN the game, the victory was even sweeter. Miami has better players, but OSU had the better team, and more grit.
The last time OSU had a National Championship was when I was 18 years old, and Neil Armstrong (from OHIO) had not yet walked on the moon.
This was a sweet, sweet victory, and absolutely, completely deserved.
I'll forgive you for your lack of judgement on this one, though, since I agree with you about almost everything else! :o)
I watched all the replays and the official's take on it was just plain wrong. He admitted he had to 'replay the play' in his mind before throwing the flag. That is just crap. You either see it or you don't. And I'll trust the tv replay more than the officials. If he wasn't sure, he should not have thrown the flag- especially on such a critical play.
As for the quarterbacks, neither played well, and Dorsey was the bigger disappointment because he is that much better than OSU's guy. I do remember saying to friends that Miami was just off all night. And as such, they did not deserve to win (in hindsight). But that call from the official was just bad.
