I like #3 also - least political and does NOT include Hollywood....what's with the Aztec like one?

I voted for #3. I voted for #6, though not many other people did. To my mind, a major design goal for a coin should be to be immediately recognizable. The movie-film border should show up quite clearly, even if a coin becomes worn.

Number 7. But then I like plants. Still, the metaphor is clever.

I vote for the "Loonie"

Voted for #18 ..Liked #13 also both depicted the gold rush.

Do you mean the "Tree Hugger" model? What does this say about Californians?

Looking at the treeless background, maybe it means we "chop 'em down." And the Sequoia is truncated...

#13 hands down. Prospector, bear, trees, poppy, condor. Has all the basics. Looks to be in the lead (barely), too.

What happened to my favourite design, multicultural panhandlers with their palms stuck out?
To: I_Love_My_Husband
My choice isn't up there.
I think it should show a bottle of spilled red ink,
a "For Sale" sign on the State Capital Building from Gray Davis Realty Co.,
and the word "TAXES" rising in a hot-air balloon!
To: Swordmaker
The design is the best aesthetically of the bunch. I don't think the message was about tree hugging, but about the various climes of the state, with a double entredre about the various peoples. I don't think the chopped sequoia was meant to have a despoilment element. I think it was dictated by design considerations. None of the other trees were truncated.

Number 3 is definately a good choice. I voted for the prospector guy though. I like the look of that one.

Where is the Valley Oak, the Modesto Ash?
Aesthetically the best???? None of them are good.
The most accurate is the Cornicopia of agricultural products flowing out of California...

...except the tip of the Cornicopia seems to be located in Northern Nevada, rather than the Central Valley.

voted for #20. No Hollyweurd for me besides, did you notice the Hollyweird CC hosted the web site and had several entries.
What's with the Golden Gate Bridge. I thought it was a coin from California not San Francisco!!! I voted #3. I don't like the enormous hat of the gold prospector in #13.

I didn't vote. I couldn't find the one with a hammer and sickle on it.

That one looks hideous. Simply terrible. The addition of the oak would be good, but the palm tree, the sequoia, the joshua tree, sort of covers the gamut from the climes point of view. The forth tree looks like the some pine tree on the coast or something, but I am not sure. Bristle cone pine perhaps as another alternative, although it looks too big? You know about those don't you?
