Who Said These "Two Towers" Quotes? (Vanity)
1/3/03

I just got home from seeing this wonderful movie for the seventh time and brought home twelve pages of dialogue scribbled in the dark (some of it was pretty messy and hard to read but I think it's pretty accurate). I wrote down some memorable quotes and wondered if you guys might enjoy guessing who said them and who the speakers were talking to.
I will give you a few quotes to start and if this turns out to be fun, I (or you guys) can post some more. I have tons more!
1. Tell me what happened and I will ease your passing.
2. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.
3. We have trusted you this far. You have not led us astray. I was wrong to despair.
4. Isengard has been unleashed.
5. You are the luckiest, the canniest, and the most wreckless man I have ever known.
6. Why do you lay these troubles on an already troubled mind? Can you not see your uncle is wearied by your malcontent and your warmongering?
7. I come back to you now at the turn of the tide.
8. Dark have been my dreams of late.
9. Open war is upon you - whether you would risk it or not.
10. Three hundred lives of men I walked on this earth and now I have no time.
11. The courtesy of your hall has lessened of late.
12. Your leechcraft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast.
13. Finish this line......It is time for Faramir, Captain of Gondor, to show his _______.
14. This creature is bound to me and I to him.
15. It is an army bred for a single purpose, to destroy the world of men.
16. Sauron's wrath will be terrible, his retribution swift.
17. I will have no pointy ear out scoring me.
18. We come to honor that allegiance.
19. You could have picked a better spot.
20. The ring will not save Gondor. It only has the power to destroy.
Would anybody like to guess who said these words or to whom these words were spoken?

47. Riders from Rohan, what news from the Mark?
I think it was "what news from the North?" in the movie, as it is in the book. Funny, because I have a some kind of memory of him asking it the other way too -- what news from the Mark?

The clue for me was the word 'had'. This was such fun. Thanks.
To: Elenya
It was my first instinct. But on second thought, it seemed to me that it was Aragorn who should've thanked him, LOL!It does sound strange as a quote taken out of context, but Aragorn isn't saying "You are welcome" as in a response to thanks. He's saying that the elves are most welcome as in he's thrilled that the elves came to help.

Yikes, mtngrl! I'm a newbie at this LOTR stuff. I'm still learning all the characters' names in the first movie! Can't wait to see TTT -- wanted to go tonight, but hubby insisted on watching some two-bit football game instead. LOL.
Am anxious to get up to snuff on this topic, and then I'll jump right in and challenge ya!
Happy New Year, friend!

I've seen it in theatres 4 times and on my computer 5X if that counts ;)

I have to tell you, my family has been having a blast with these quotes: thanks for taking the time to do it. We are considering seeing the movie a third time today but the weather is so nice here in Phoenix (around 82 and sunny) we kind of hate to stay inside.
(I didn't need to add that last part but I know most of you are snowed under and I just wanted to rub it in. Sorry)

21. "Arrrrgh!! You've ruined it!" Gollum/Smeagol(?) to Sam as he cooked the rabbits and didn't choose to eat them raw?
Thought it could use a pic :) Gollum rules! LOL

No, yours will do just fine!

Excuse me Dan, but how do these threads qualify as "news," or "activism?" Seems to me these threads belong somewhere else- like the "Hobbit hole" thread. When I click on the "News/Activism" heading I'm looking for news of the REAL world not your little fantasy world!

Here we go again. Let's see if I can do better.
21. A wizard should know better.
Treebeard to Merry & Pippen
22. So much death! What can men do against such reckless hate?
Theoden to Aragorn
23. I know it's all wrong, by all rights we shouldn't even be here, but we are.
Frodo to Sam
24. To enter the forbidden pool pays the penalty of death.
Faramir to Frodo
25. It's my task, mine, my own!
Frodo to Sam
26. Leave now and never come back!
Theoden to Grima
27. It was a gift, keep it.
Arwen to Aragorn
28. So few, so few of you have returned.
Eowyn to men returning.
29. Fell deeds await.
Gandalf to Aragorn
30. Then it is forfeit. Release them.
Faramir to his followers.
Things to look forward to in Return of the King:

Now you're bringing up a new and different subject. I disagree with your attitude, but agree with your point. It isn't News/Activism. If you'd started there, I'd've responded differently. You could simply have written an Administrator, or better still address your suggestion to the Administrator.
I just never care, myself. If a thread doesn't interest me, I don't go there. I actually preferred when they were all displayed in one place.

Good suggestion. Next time I will. I know it's kind of sadistic for me to toy with people that can't tell the difference in fantasy and reality, but I've just gotta be me!

1. Tell me what happened and I will ease your passing. Hillary Clinton talking to Strom Thurmond after she shoved him to the Senate floor.
2. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.
James Carville discussing tactics in the Clinton White House War Room.
3. We have trusted you this far. You have not led us astray. I was wrong to despair.
Howard Dean after Hillary promised him she wasn't running for President in 2004.
4. Isengard has been unleashed.
Janet Reno mumbling in her S&M romper room.
5. You are the luckiest, the canniest, and the most wreckless man I have ever known.
Hillary talking to Bill on their first date.

For complaining about this thread, you certainly have spent enough time replying on it.
And if you're deliberately trying to be rude, in order to provoke a response out of me... don't hold your breath.
To: Notforprophet
Likewise, you could have ignored my comments altogether! Have a great day!
