Brin's Orwellian ideas are creepy. In The Transparent Society he proposes we should put cameras everywhere to stop crime. You can see how well this has worked in Britain.

Is that a non-fiction book? Hmmm...well, not that I would agree with THAT particular idea, but the things he discusses in this article are opinions close to the ones I have had about Tolkien and Middle Earth. I wrote to him saying that I would not get along well in Middle Earth at all...the elves would send me into apoplectic fury and Aragorn would have to lock me up in the highest tower of Minas Tirith for fomenting rebellion against bowing to a king.
