[history]
January 3, 2003 -- Sen. Ted Kennedy's 42-year-old daughter, Kara, a longtime advocate for the disabled, underwent surgery yesterday to remove a cancerous tumor from her right lung.
Kara Kennedy underwent surgery at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital and will begin chemotherapy in the next few weeks, officials said.

Not meaning to sound morbid, or disrespecting anyone physically ill...has Kara ever worked for her famous Uncle/Democrat party?

42 is too young an age usually for lung cancer caused by cancer.

I sympathize with any cancer sufferer. But it isn't without some irony that this family has been wracked with tragedy. The sins of the father become the sins of the son (and daughter).

I have great respect for any Kennedy who does NOT go into politics and keeps herself out of the limelight. I hope she does well.

I wonder if she is/was a smoker. Back in the late 70's, while she was attending Trinity College in Hartford, CT, I can remember seeing her in the local college bar hang out, and she smoked then.

I once had to inform a 32 year old mother than she had inoperable lung cancer.
Depends on when you started smoking or if you have any genetics or other environmental factors that aggrevate the risk.
doctors expected a full recovery.
Five year survival rates are 5-20%, depending. Lung cancer deaths in women exceed breast cancer deaths last I heard.

Maybe it's time for Teddy to retire "to spend more time with his family".
To: kattracks
I hate hearing of anyone with cancer, no matter what their heritage.
I'll say a prayer for her.

Politics and health are two different spectrums. To hook the two together in the same sentence is morbid. If our political enemies are fighting with health problems, then there is absolutely no chance of getting them to look at intelligent logic. The battle is lost all the way around when those we spare against are crippled before we start.
Prayers for her health.

<< The sins of the father[s] become the sins of the son[s]. >>
My thoughts, too.
Unto the third generation already already.
May she know God's will and have the strength to carry that out.

So much for the Kennedy gene pool. Lets not forget his sister,-lobotomised and still living?
With the Kennedys the word enough is not in their vocabulary.
