Somebody please answer this for me. I saw the movie last night. There were some warriors that had veils across their faces, with big elephants in the scene too. Did they participate in the seige on the castle, or not?

Those were the
Haradrim, Men of the East, who served Sauron. The beasts were called
oliphaunts, and were a corrupt version of elephants bred for war.
Funny, I always thought, how Tolkien had the Arabs (who are widely recognized as the prototypes for the Haradrim) pegged way back in the '50s.

The army with the elephants were attacking Gondor, and they came from Mordor. Remember, the title, The Two Towers, refers to the alliance between the two towers of Eisengard and Mordor.
