Lisa Guido, Peter DeMott and Grace Ritter of Ithaca and 13 others were arrested on December 28, 1:30 pm at the White House in Washington DC for participating in a nonviolent, peaceful die-in to protest the ongoing war against Iraq and the invasion of Iraq, now well underway. Some of the participants poured their own blood on themselves during the protest.
DeMott and Ritter were charged with participating in a stationary demonstration in a restricted area and released with an order to appear in DC court on April 16; Guido is still being held. All three were part of the group who were arrested at the Ithaca Army Recruitment Center on December 21st for participating in a similar die-in there.
DeMott and Ritter were interviewed by Pacifica Peacewatch this morning about the anti-war effort in Ithaca; the show will be aired sometime this week. Contact WEOS Geneva for the times of broadcast.
Peter DeMott's statement:
As a Marine Corps veteran of the war in Viet Nam, I know firsthand that war is organized mass murder. Violence begets more violence. We need to solve international disputes peacefully and through negotiation.
DeMott and Ritter are available for statements at 607/227-4189.
High above Cayuga's waters
There's an awful smell
Some say it's the Tompkins landfill
I say it's Cornell
To the tune of the Cornell alma mater :)
I'm just as confused about that one as you are. But I can tell you that DeMott and the Jonah House crew are just what they've always been, ever since Phil Berrigan started it -- a criminal conspiracy devoted to the trespass and destruction of government property in the service of the far left's favorite cause, ie. the destruction of America. These are definitely fake "Christians."
Yes. They work for Jonah House. Wherever they are sent, JH pays their room/board/medical and pays them about $300/month each. They are indeed professional protestors, usually recruited right out of college and then brainwashed to the point of no return.
Think "Kool-Aid."
Think "Jim Jones."
Think "Useful Idiots."
Before and After:
Their own blood??? ..
Geez how much did they have to drain out of themselves?

As a Marine Corps veteran of the war in Viet Nam, I have one thing to remind you of, BROTHER.......
"Pacifists are among the most immoral of men. They make no distinction between aggression and defense. Therefore, pacifism is one of the greatest allies an aggressor can have!" by Patrick Henry"

My recollection is that, during Vietnam, the Air Force, Navy, and Marines were primarily volunteer units. Draftees were largely inducted into the Army. I suppose there could be exceptions.
Stealing a van and ramming a submarine with it doesn't sound too peaceful and non-violent to me...
My bet is he was a wayward youth who took the judge up on his "go in the Marines or go to jail option." This was a common source of 'volunteers' for the Marines and Army back then. And I would venture to guess that based on this guy's need to continually boast of being a Vietnam Vet that the most action he saw was probably from a bar stool in Saigon on payday. The no B.S. combat vets don't feel the need to go around and remind everyone that they were there, as though it were an extension of their penis. I must say I concur wholeheartedly on not returning to the draft. I served during both the draft and all-volunteer versions of the military and there's no comparison between the 'can-do' professionalism of today's volunteers and the "Hey man, I didn't ask to be here" attitude of the typical draftee we had back in 1970. No doubt this traitorous, destructive pant load is exactly the type of draftee that RAT B@$tard Rangel would love to impregnate the greatest military on earth with.
