Is yours the old fashioned LR with the tire on the bonnet, or one of the new suburban assault vehicles?

Just kidding - I have a Ford Explorer now, a little more useful than a two-seat Land Cruiser with two jump seats when you have kids -- but I have taken it a lot of funny places, including through the world's largest mudhole at a Boy Scout encampment. (I suddenly had an Explorer in a tasteful shade of Georgia Red Clay. EVERYTHING was mud-colored, including the glass and the kayak racks on the roof. But we did NOT get stuck. Some folks did. I took one look at the guy going through ahead of me and set the range to 4W LOW.)

I still see our old LC around town. It's in good shape, the only thing the guy has done to it is take off our home-made trailer hitch and put a Class III Draw-Tite on there.

It's a first year Disco. I owned some older Series (Rat Patrol) models before.

I would like to trade it for an imported Series model but it's so old now it's not worth much.

The Defender models have held their value very very well.

They are a pain in the arse and not cheap to repair but for off road.....I would take them over a Hummer. A Hummer really shines articulating and thru rocky terrain but for deep woods mud ..they are a bit bulky and heavy.

Happy New Year!
