I believe that is quoted incorrectly. Did he not say "I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon" I believe those were his words.

On a lighter note... (excerpt from a Midland TX website...
George W. lived a "Leave it to Beaver" type of existence in Midland. He didn't mind being the center of attention.
