I come from an ultra leftist family) who said that communism hasn't worked because it wasn't applied properly, but the "ideas" weren't at fault. She quickly had to admit, though, that once the personal incentive is taken away no one wants to work.

Nothing against your family member, but this is a great example of why it's so hard to figure these people out.

How CAN one believe that "properly applying the ideas" of communism would work, when the incentive to produce is taken away, which she freely admitted to?

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard a lefty say that communism has failed, because it has yet to be administered correctly.

Don't worry about speaking out about my "family member"! I am almost ostracized because I am pro-gun rights, pro-death penalty, against abortion, and view sodomy as sick and cruel behavior, not a holy sacrament! Because of having the upbringing I had (red-diaper doper baby) I have a unique insight into liberals. It IS a religion, in the sense of people BELIEVING with all their hearts. People can have blind belief in anything - the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, flat earth, the tenets of liberal/leftism - with complete fervor.

The reason one cannot argue or debate rationally with such people is because their belief is fanatic, not rooted in truth. Unconciously they can't stand to hear anything that disagrees with them, because it may destroy their own faith. If their foolish groundless faith in phantasmagoria is destroyed, they will then have to look at their empty purposeless lives and that will be painful.

Also, leftism/liberalism, being a phony religion, requires strict adherence and lack of questioning. It requires that one be either an atheist, or if one believes in "God" it is not really God but a pretend or mistaken idea of God. The concept of "Absolute Truth" in the sense of God is 100% absent with real leftist liberals.

Another interesting facet is that liberals/leftist have a fixation with illicit sex. Even if they don't do it, they see abortion, homosexuality and "free sex" as requirements - to deny the legitimacy of these is tantamount to blasphemy. For instance, my family considers me mentally sick because I see these as unhealthy and immoral.
