Thanks for the thoughtful reply, especially in regards to matters of the spirit. I had not thought about this much. I fear we're finally in an age where a handful of elite can alter the definition of human forever. I think it is important to keep religious discourses alive if only to enable humans to imagine themselves as more than workers, consumers, biomechanisms, a collection of appetites, etc. Both revealed religion and introspective analyses on the mystery of human nature should be preserved. Of course they'll never be considered by the scientists and so-called medical ethicists except to stack arguments in favor of whatever they want to do to make a profit.
I continue to trust that God will turn our society's folly into some humbling comedy, because even our scientific experts are notoriously unsuccessful at predicting the end to which their means will lead. It may be the kind of comedy you can only laugh at once human pride has caused the whole husk of the spent and abused world to fall away, unfortunately, leaving the materialists as kings of nothing.

From physics we talk abour the electron or the photon or the magnetic field. These are general terms, abstractions. We assume there is more than one electron in the universe. But who knows? Who has actually seen an electron?
Is it a similar situation with the spirit? Is there a single spirit that our individual bodies tune into like a radio, or does a piece of spirit come into our bodily cells, or is the spirit that animates cellular processes separate from the spirit that animates thought? Or is one of these the soul and the other the spirit so both exist at once? At some point we get beyond what can be known and the universe fills with question marks rather than answers.

Puh-leeze. This story has so little credibility that they might as well have hired Bill Clinton to issue the public statement.
