Sure. One can file as "Married, Filing Seperately." This allows you to split the marriage penalty between yourselves, if you are a silly liberal family with seperate finances.

The IRS is very accomodating to these things, you know...

OK, I get that part :)

But how can they "force" unmarried "living together" couples to file as married?
