THERE IS POLITICAL criticism, there is political attack, and then there is political political correctness: the massive overreaction to perfectly useful ideas that have been badly stated or misinterpreted. There is a danger, for instance, that people will become afraid to criticize any aspect of American foreign policy, lest they be branded "anti-American." That, at any rate, is the conclusion many will reach after reading of Sen. Patty Murray's experience.
Sen. Murray's (D-Wash.) crime, it seems, was to make an ill-worded and rather silly speech last week to a high school in Vancouver, Wash., that was then excerpted by the Columbian, a newspaper in Vancouver, Canada. In a normal week, the Columbian's Web site receives 60,000 to 70,000 visitors. The day following the paper's story about Sen. Murray's speech, it had 230,000 visitors. As the Web site put it, "There are top stories, and then there is Patty Murray." Other Web sites, Web logs and talk shows picked up the story, and by the weekend, the chairman of the Republican Party in Washington state had publicly questioned Sen. Murray's patriotism.

I question the patriotism of all democrats.

Oh and attention Washington Post Wh*res:
Vancouver, in the State of Washington is where the vomitous Murry was reported spouting her evil (and insane) theories. You lying brain-f*rts at the Washington Post are trying to minimze the incident by deceiving your less knowledgable readers into thinking this was reported only out of the country in backwater Vancouver, Canada.
Vast Left Wing Conspiracy typical stonewalling and cover-up. From the very same newspaper that disemboweled the hapless Trent Lott mere minutes before.

So the Washington Post finally reports on her comments. And they do it on the slowest news day of the year. Big surprise!

We might not call into question the patriotism of liberals if they could find something nice to say about our country from time to time. Once a year would be an improvement. We are not getting upset about a single comment. We are reacting to a consistent and persistant pattern of "America is to blame regardless of the facts" comments from the left.

Amazing.
I bet they were all over the Lott story, like it was the worst speech since Nuremberg.

Oh, thank you Washington Post for letting us know we have the freedom of speech to say inept, stupid, uninformed things.
Let's compare the two Senators' recent free speech incidents. Trent Lott lauds Strom Thurmond on his birthday and it is immediately assummed by the WP and others he was supporting ST's past segregation stands. Did the WP give Lott the "benefit of the doubt". No. They jumped on the comments with both feet, starting a shrill cacophany that drove him from his leadership position. So it appears, and there are many other examples to prove it, that Republicans who say anything racially-tinged must suffer! Certainly without any regard to what they might really mean or what policy issue they might be criticizing.
But now along comes Democrat Patty Murray making overt unpatriotic comments supporting our enemies and chastising our past and recent foreign policies and suddenly we should consider what did she really mean and does she have a point about the policy issue she is criticizing. Republicans dislike overt comments slamming America as much as Democrats dislike racial comments. So if you are a US Senator, you should be held responsible for incompetant comments in either case. But it appears you get a pass if you are a Democrat.

Long may their tinfoil beanies spin!

The absolute selfish gall of these leftist shills should afford them rank and total credibility Noneyatta Mendatta!

Diitos from me.
But surely you didn't expect equal treatment from DC's quaint alternative socialist newspaper? After all she was only praising "the good works" of a declared enemy of the United States who has a reward on his head for his death or capture. She wasn't saying nice things about a 100 year old war hero who broke from the socialist party in 1948 to assert states rights.
I guess she tied her sneakers too tight that day.

If I had the contract to sell the Washington Post "whitewash", I could retire in a week and live like a king.

At the very least, it ought to be possible to discuss America's image in the Islamic world...And it also stands to reason, that a remark made by another Senator about an old man's image in another time should have been discussed without the hoop-la and lies it generated. Pattie Murry's remarks were far worse than those of Trent Lott.
Media bias is alive and well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Hey Washington Post, You buy ink by the barrel but electrons are free. In your eye!

What Patty Murray said was ignorant. Furthermore, it blamed the victim for the crimes of the perpetrator.
This is nothing new for the Far-Left wing of the Democrat party.
Her stupidity and her political attitudes need the bright light of exposure so that the people of Washington, and the United States, can judge he fitness as a Senator.
What the Washington Post column reveals is the double standard at work. When a Conservative speaks, his views are dissected for their hidden meanings. For code words, for anything that could possibly in the fever swamps of political correctness be interpreted are hurtful to anyone. When a Radical leftist like Patty Murray speaks, the stupidity, the Blame America First attitudes are dismissed in a sentence and the First Amendment is deployed to justify this brazen example of Radical Left hysteria.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
The WP's premise has been proven false.
They argue that Murray's comments should be welcome as an opening for discussion on Islam and American policy.
If that is correct, then why couldn't Lott's comments be an opening for racial issues.
The pathetic truth, that the liberals cannot accept, is that the liberals believe "blame America first" is a virtue that all Americans must embrace. To these same numbsculls, any discussion of race is sinful unless we "blame whites first."
On top of that, Murray's statements were false. America spends more money on in the Muslim world building schools, daycares, ect. then the Muslims spend on themselves.
