SACRAMENTO - San Francisco Democrat Carole Migden has canceled her order for a taxpayer-funded white Cadillac CTS.

Migden's decision to instead lease or buy a car at her own expense comes after the Mercury News reported on the $41,000 request.

whoops..."she" should have read as "he". Still, they are only doing this now because the press leaked it. Not because of a well-known budget issue (long before they got in office).

Why does the article seem biased against the Democrat when the Republican is as much at fault?

Migden, an outspoken advocate for the poor, acknowledged the luxury status accorded the Cadillac. But she defended her choice as ``reasonably priced.'' Her staff compared prices and found that it was within the price range of what past members had selected.

Thats right, when in doubt just copy the excesses of the prior pigs at the trough. Doesn't Migden also have a driver chauffer her around to all the carpet stores ;-P

...the state Board of Equalization...

Her office is next to "The Department of Silly Walks".

Good News!

It is amazing the power the press has when it does its job in exposing corruption and elitism in our politicians.

One can only imagine what would have happened in the media including the Mercury News had really hammered Davis on the budget deficit early and often in the past year.

If we could get the press to front page all of the government employee excesses, maybe we could get a handle on this financial crisis.

The rats in Kali and in the Nation get by with excesses, being racists and commiting criminal acts because there is no coverage in the fishwraps or on ABCNNBCBS!

Their orgy at the now famous funeral in MN. is how they live their perverted lives. Normally they don't get the exposure they got at the funeral or the publicity that Lesbo Midgen got with her elitist auto choice.

When they get that exposure, they retreat quickly.

A Caddy is reasonable only when compared to a Rolls Royce. I know, I just bought one yesterday.

Sorry, you've lost me. What do you see that's biased against the dem? It reads as a pretty straightforward news report to me.

This is a step in the right direction, but how about all of the legislators giving up their car subsidies paid by CA taxpayers? A recent article in the OC Register stated that we are only on the hook for the first $140-150 of the monthly lease payment with the legislator paying the remainder. But who's checking????? Hey - every little bit adds up and this state needs to add up all the pennies it can find. They can drive old Dodges as Jerry Brown did.

Isn't about time "We the People" start running our own government again and take it back from the crafty careerist from both of the corrupt parties who have monopolized and degenerated the political institutions in this country?

Washington volunteered to serve his country and in no way gained economically…shouldn’t that be the role model for the American patriot?

I certainly couldn't agree with you more. I believe the state of TX legislature only spends a small amount of time actually in session. Yes - definitely all states and especially those critters in Washington, DC should be limited to the time they can spend running/ruining our lives.

As soon as the dust is settled the cars will turn up. Bet on it. In Va. we seem to need two pick-ups for every Vdot worker.

CA: Tax board members make U-turn on car orders

Not to worry...they will make a second U-turn as soon as possible.

Actually I'm shocked this made into a major California paper besides maybe the Orange
County Register.

The only place I'd heard about this eco-hypocrisy of the California Democratic
legislators is from Repubican legislator Tom Campbell (Orange County)
on the Hugh Hewitt Show on KRLA 870AM in Los Angeles about six months ago.

Give them all compact cars (Dodge Neon comes to mind).

What does a "public servant" need with a luxury car?

This is damage control after being exposed by the press. Period.
Anything else these clowns say about it is a lie.
