Fiscal restraint.. The answer was so easy.. But with government leaders lacking either vision or common sense, what could we expect.
Some say that what's happening in California today will eventually cross the nation. God , I hope not.

It's worse than just a rate increase, That is only the "base rate".
Depending on an employers amount of unemployed, there is an experience modification rate that either lowers or raises the rate and as far as I know, there is no upper limit!

"The drop is largely because people are collecting unemployment at a higher rate than the fund is being replenished, according to the employment department"
The truth about that giant sucking sound which is the loss of manufacturing jobs to China.

"It's been a train wreck of circumstances," Not circumstance, plan. It was the plan all along. Just another wedge for expanding goverment.

Workmans comp is way up because they raised the payments to the scammers. When they raise the vehicle registration fees it will be another burden on small business. Plumbers, painters, and other craftsmen have fleets for their crews and those fees can be hundreds of dollars per vehicle per year.

Now you know why I incorporated in NV. Looks like I'll be spending winters in Vegas for at least the next 4 years.

Hey, Don;t count on 4 years... This may take a generation to undo the damage ,,, if it can ever be done at all.
Personally, My loyalty to this state has been shot in the a$$ too many times for comfort.
Im glad to see fine folks like you send the ultimate message to the lunkhead socialzits and incorporate your businesses elsewhere.
It looks like it will take a total meltdown economy-wise before the doofuses in charge get the message. We can not afford 6 million illegals. We can not afford demRatic "principles" The cost IS too high. The outcome , disastrous.
In 4 years, I hope my family and I will be in Nevada.
Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season. Semper Fi.

Most states use a countercyclical tax schedule to raise money for the fund. That means the tax rate is low during good economic times and increases during economic contractions, when more people tap into unemployment insurance.
Ah yes, I remember only a few years ago the states were looking to give unemployment funds to people who CHOSE to take family leaves (vacations). I guess that would be out of the question now!!

"...there is no upper limit!"
That has always been the case in California unemployment insurance. The employees don't know it since unemployment isn't a payroll deduction and is totally paid by the employer. The more people that draw on your unemployment account the higher the rate for the employer if it draws down their account below a certain level. Conversly, if you don't have employees drawing on your account the rate falls below the stipulated "%".
