Some time tomorrow night, after his three little girls leave milk and cookies out for Santa, Tom Johnson will fill their stockings with Christmas goodies. But there's one stocking he will not fill. Big and white and hand-knit by a family friend, it bears the name A-M-A-N-D-A stitched in bright red lettering.

So the next time a Swedish minister lectures America about our respect for international law, think of that empty stocking on Tom Johnson's mantle this Christmas morning.
It's done by higher principles than mere law or treaty. You see, in the eyes of the Swedish government, we are inherently uncivilized, and must not be allowed to "manipulate" the law to our advantage. When the laws supports them, they will use it, and when it does not, they will ignore it. But in all cases, the ends justify the means, which leads one to wonder what the essential difference is between Sweden and, say, North Korea...
