SANTA CRUZ:While the Pentagon has spent the past year training troops, building facilities and stockpiling weapons to launch a war against Iraq, the peace movement has been using the buildup time to coordinate emergency response plans to disrupt domestic military activity, tie up commerce and get out their anti-war message.
If a major war breaks out in Iraq, the first thing Rev. Stuart Fitch plans to do is pray, sending love to everyone from Saddam Hussein to George W Bush. Then he'll call his congregation to church for a service.
And then, perhaps, the 78-year-old Episcopalian clergyman will get himself arrested.
"There will be plenty of people going to jail that day," said Fitch. "I'm thinking about joining them."
Rally meeting places are posted, march routes set, protest signs painted, acts of nonviolent civil disobedience choreographed. Twenty-three US cities have passed anti-war resolutions.
Activists in more than a dozen cities have announced where and when to meet on the first day of war, what they call "The Day Of." In Dallas, they plan speeches at City Hall; in San Francisco, they plan to block traffic in the business district; in St. Louis they will hold a candlelight vigil downtown; in Seattle they plan to march at the federal building. In New York City, organizers hope to crowd Times Square with protesters.

If they block traffic, may they get run down. Oh, please, let them try to break into a military base so they can be shot.

"massive" ? ROFL - I doubt it. Recall that during the first Gulf War, that any anti-war types were quickly ridiculed by the real masses.

Want to march, fine. Want to protest, fine. Block my car or get in my way, you may get hurt.

If they block traffic, may they get run down. Accidentally, of course.

I hope it begins in January, on a day when it's colder than LBJ, with horizontal rain and sleet thrown in too...Let's see how well those signs hold up...

"disrupt domestic military activity"
IF they take this course of disobedience, the bullets that will repel them won't be rubber...

And at least these types aren't working so they can go and protest at the drop of a hat..........

It's been on some of their websites for a while now. 4:30 p.m. on the "day of", gather at such-and-such place, unleash hell.
"Spontaneous outrage" takes preparation.

You know, it wouldn't be to hard to counter-demonstrate if you had their
list.
To: CARepubGal
That's the truth.

They'd better get the protests up in a hurry. Even at 30mph over the desert, the tanks will be rolling up to Baghdad city limits in about 48 hours. The 10k odd Republican Guard who are gonna charge out like Polish cavalry to stop us won't last for long.
In reality, the only fighting for the average Iraqi soldier will be to get to the front of the POW line. This will leave a very tight window of opportunity for the anti-war protesters to get in gear before the whole thing blows over.

Amen

Well, at least we'll know where they all are by 6 p.m. that nite! IN JAIL where they belong! Or, no wait, this is better, put them all on a plane to Iraq!
