Hillary's just trying to get her name in the headlines. The race card is out of the old Dem playbook and it'll flop cause no one believes the rest of the GOP are dyed in the wool segregationists. Believe me if this line of attack doesn't work, Hillary will whine about something else. When all is said and done the Dems still miss a positive message to send to the country.

Does this woman actually believe she has a chance in hell of ever being president of this country?

Uhhhh...that's what we said about her chance of becoming Senator from New York.

I am at a loss as to why the democrats are trying this tactic

The Republican Party leadership didn't rally 'round Senator Lott when he made a comment that was not racist, and taken out of context. Why? They saw a way to get a leader more to their liking, less in tune with the conservative agenda.

Now, the dems are trying to turn this into open season on Republicans. How is the leadership going to defend anyone after this without seeming hypocritical?

I'd wager that a majority of Americans don't know what Lott said and the circumstances of the statement. They just know that the Republican leadership agrees with the Hildebeast that it was racist.

Somebody please tell Hillary that KKK Byrd has a lot of explaining to do:

Sen. Byrd, Confederate General

Sen Robert Byrd Glorifies Confederate, pro-Slavery General Paul Semmes! PHOTO EVIDENCE!

The former first lady referred to leaflets that said McCain's wife adopted a "black baby" during a trip to Bangladesh. The Bush campaign denied any connection to the leaflets.

These are serious charges against us South Carolina voters, let me answer them;

1) This wasn't important.
2) Any Clymer can print anything on a pamphlet, that doesn't make it true.

I was wondering why I didn't remember this McCain slur. I had to do some searching and remembered it broke the day after the election. Nobody I know heard about it before the election. Maybe Hill is thinking of another South Carolina.

Why McCain lost the SC primary;

1) His part in the Keating Five scandal ( us dumb hicks do remember these things )
2) The crossover vote. McCain accepted it with gusto. Many people I knew said "Democrats don't elect our candidate".
He lost tons of votes because of it. 3) He was just plain creepy.
4) We didn't like him.

Did we need any more reasons not to vote for him?

Thanks for calling all if us racists Hill. Were waiting for her apology to the people of South Carolina, but I won't hold my breath.

I'm trying to remember this but I don't think CFR had jelled yet meaning they still hadn't decided what the bill would look like. It was an issue but not a major one for us at that time.

I'm still fuming about how Hill would think some silly pamplet would influence us voters. Most of us would have thrown it away at once. She's calling us all stupid too. I'm going to see what we can do about demanding an apology through our Senators.

In the recent election, the Clintons were told to stay out of various states because their presence was deemed harmful. Hillary, who unusually thin skinned, must still be licking her wounds and must be musing how she can run for president when she is not welcomed to campaign for others let alone for herself. There is nothing more dangerous than a wounded wild beast.

"Name names or apologize. ..."

The dems will use Lott's statements and their interpretation of them to inflame black voters, just as they used James Byrd and the "Fla disinfranchisement" to stir passions to get our their base. I wonder if it would be possible for a pre-election media blitz to repeat the "they are just closet racists" statements of Bill, Hillary, et al, to show southerners, that the democrat party thinks they are evil racists and white trash. Is Hillary handing the GOP a southern sweep in 2004?

The media was quick to demand that Lott explain his words, which he never really did effectively. Will Tim Russert and Chris Matthews ask Hillary at every opportunity to explain her words and to "name names and provide evidence that "they all say this on the back roads...?"

Anti-south bigotry is as offensive to me as anti-black bigotry is to black people. The difference is, the former is fashionable.

Think a bit about what is happening. The dems are playing the race card and in doing so painting every white person in the South as a racist just to solidify the black vote, but they have the black vote.

Many older white Southern Democrats (my Mom was one) have been dems forever and always vote dem but are closet racists - but do not think they are! They lived through the time of desegregation and believed the separate but equal propaganda. They also support the dems because they only remember Wallace in the schoolhouse door. Republicans in the South, at that time, were not even on the ticket because they were tied to equality and desegregation. (I did not see a Republican candidate- except the President- to vote for until the late-sixties. Never got elected.)

This attack by the dems is against their own. In essence, the dems are destroying their Southern white base. There are still some Southern dems in power, but this over reaction to Lott has sealed their fate.

Worse still is the dirty little secret that the North is more racist than the South, so the dems are doing the same there. As has been pointed out by many, this is the Wellstone funeral all over again and will do the same damage to the dems as it did there. They have created racial tension when they should be trying to create racial harmony. They have left that issue in Bush's hands because of their over reaction and transparent attacks on the pubs.

I have never seen such ineptness in politics. It is straight out of the Clinton play book and has led to a sweep of the federal and state govs for the Republicans.

I am at a loss as to why the democrats are trying this tactic. Who are they trying to influence? They already have the black vote.

I think the tremendous force of habit is at work here. The Democrats DO have the black vote locked up IMO. Nevertheless, they cannot break themselves of the mantra of "you're a racist, sexist, fascist" that they are habituated to when attacking an opponent.
A more interesting question is; what long term effect is this Democrat habit having on the great mass of politically uncommitted Americans. I believe (or hope) that millions of non-political, white Americans, are saying to themselves, "OK, you want to define yourself as The Black Party? Fine, I'll move into the party that at least doesn't make me feel uncomfortable simply for being white." Needless to say, no one will say this to a pollster. The fear of being considered a racist has been so internalized that such thoughts are rarely spoken aloud.
The Democrats may have over-reached this time.

This from the woman who was accused of slamming a Jew; who represents a Marxist agenda; whose party supports the likes of Sen. Patty Murray, who praises bin Laden; a woman who can run down a policeman at a check point and get away with it; Hillary Clinton will use every bump in the road for her own agenda and get print from a biased media. She and her husband are on thin ice when it comes to running/ruining their party, which has become the Socialist Party of America.

One of Lott’s biggest failures was to vote not to convict the rapist in the White House. It was the Republican Party that helped put King’s civil rights plea over the top. It was the Democratic Party that was against the Civil Rights of the 60’s. It is the Clinton’s and the Jessie Jackson’s who have tried to keep their base (black Americans) on the plantation with hand outs and other non-work perks. It was Strom who said Welfare would cripple poor Americans – and it did and is.

Hillary is screaming if you listen, because she sees her agenda for a Socialist America going down the tubes and she is fighting like the cat she is. Hillary does not believe in equal justice under the law because she bends the law to her own needs. She does not support the United States Constitution, rather she sees it as an old worn out piece of paper, not the brilliant document it is.

There is NO rule of law when it comes to Mrs. Clinton – still married to a rapist, a perjurer, and an impeached and corrupt ex-president. They are both determined to regain their power and take America to the cleaners one more time. Actually they are doing that now with all the expensive offices and homes these two have – it’s called equal opportunity to corrupt and steal. She is a poster woman for Third World Dictators; a wanna-be Evita, another vile person who appeared to be working to help the poor by getting publicity when she wanted the photo-op of helping one person, not the nation. And neither is Hillary helping the nation, just help for her self interests only. Just a tax and spend socialist in democrat clothing. Beware!

You realize what this means, don't you? The Dems just lost the mixed-marriage vote. I imagaine that a lot of Dem spouses are not too happy having their Republican mates labeled racist.
