Actually, this is very good news for the Democrats. He has cowered to them in the past, and now has shown himself blackmailable, promising to support race-based legislation so he doesn't appear "racist."

I've been a republician for over fourty years. But if Lott remain as the ML, I will quit the party. Because it's all over but the shouting. The republician party can not hold the core of the party together, if they don't have the guts to lead. And Lott is a gutless wonder. I have refues to give money after I had watched Lott in action for a while.
