You are wrong about that. I read some curious pro-Beijing posts on a Taiwan thread. The posts were so odd that I asked the poster if he was from mainland China which he said he was. My guess is that the guy was a PLA sock puppet whose job was to place pro-Beijing posts on the internet. He's probably the only guy in China with real access to the internet.

I was in China a month ago and was able to access FreeRepublic.com no problem, and I wasn't blocked from any website I checked out. Suprisingly even though I was in a small town, the internet was not slow.
When I was in Poland a few years ago the internet there was dreadfully slow, couldn't even send an email.
