Here is my spoiler free review. Not spoiler free on purpose, I just couldn't "sum up" any parts of the film. It was magnificent!

DO NOT GO WHEN YOU ARE TIRED, SEE THIS WITH FULL CAPACITY. THIS FILM WILL MAKE YOU USE YOUR MIND DURING THE VIEWING.

I saw the first showing in town, and since my wife is 8 months pregnant, they let us go to the front of the line. (No will not be doing the same thing for ROTK)

I don't mind changes that maintain the spirit of the book, but what they did with Faramir was just WRONG. Instead of being the great foil for his older brother, he is pretty much just like him. I hope they can fix that in the extended DVD. Even with that however it's a great movie, and I'll be going again soon.

I went to see TTT today and loved it. I was a bit put out by the changes in Faramir at first, but it worked out OK.

My only real beef is that, compared to the book, Rohan was made to seem so weak, with only Eomer having any fighting men worth speaking of (and only 2000 of them, to boot). How is Theoden going to field 9000-odd in aid of Gondor?

SPOILERS!!!!
Since there has already been discussion of details of the film, I'll be open about scenes myself. Although this is a good film, I was very disappointed by the changes made from the book, for no other reason than to be different.
Why the dialog from Frodo defending Gollum to Sam? ("You wouldn't understand, Sam!")
Why the stupid "exocism" scene between Gandalf and Theoden? Instead of the subtle conquering of Theoden's doubts, as in the book, we are hit over the head in this version. In addition, here Saruman already knows that Gandalf is the White, before Gandalf even visits Orthanc.
Theoden's personality is changed: now he goes to Helm's Deep merely to retreat; not fight.
Aragorn falls off a cliff? Why add scenes not in the book when he could have added something that WAS in the book?
Legolas "skateboarding" down a stair. How hokey can you get?
Now the topper: Faramir CAPTURING Frodo and taking him to Gondor's abandoned city to surrender the ring to Denthor! What a bunch of crap! And a RINGWRAITH almost grabs the ring?! So much for Sauron not knowing where the ring is!
If the director had wanted to make his own story, he should not have put Tolkien's name on it and the title "The Two Towers"!

Silly LOTR question...if the ring could be hidden for 2500 years at the bottom of a river, why not head out to sea and chuck into the deep ocean? Imagine that, the Fellowship heads west until they hit the surf, sail far out, drop the ring in the water, end of movie, end of saga, roll credits...

That would seem to be an acceptable solution if the situation truly existed, instead of a seemingly suicidal mission with exceedingly high probability of being caught and having the ring taken anyway. Thoughts?

I am a little disappointed, not by what he left out but by what he put in.

I'm thinking in particularly the whole scene where Aragon goes over the cliff, and the following dream sequence(for lack of a better word) with the elves showing up at Helms Deep. Also if memory serves Fairamir released Frodo Sam and Gollum w/o and doesn't take them to Osgiliath.

With these two exceptions I thought it was just wonderful.
And now a question?

Is it Dec. 2003 yet?

I saw "Two Towers" Sunday night, and I only now got time to post my review. In one word, "brilliant."

My biggest disappointment was that it ended. If the projectionist had yelled, "Hey, I've got "The Return of the King" here, who wants to see it?" I would've have stayed another three hours for that.

Merry Christmas, by the way!

Okay, there are a couple of flaws, but what movie is perfect? Take "The Godfather." Suddenly, with no warning, the Corleones are abruptly moving the clan to Nevada!

The batle of Helm's Deep was the highlight. Best battle scene EVER! Although, Akiro Kurosawa's climactic battle in "Ran" comes close. However, the excitment level for me, and I guess most everyone else here, was greater. Helm's Deep was Good vs. Evil. In "Ran," a family--and a nation--was destroying itself.

I didn't have a problem with the Aragorn dream scene, after all, much of it was taken from the appendix of book three. Frodo and Sam had no business in Minas Tiritn. A better and more chilling ending would've been seeing Frodo captured in Shelob's lair, and skipping the showdown with the "Witch King" Nazgul.

Gollum was brilliant. Andy Serkis, even if he appears voice only, deserves a "Best Supporting Actor" nomination.

But I guess I'm nitpicking. Brilliant. Fabulous. And my wife gave me the box set of "Fellowship" for my birthday last week.
