Many people remember their favorite flavor -- like Bubblegum, Pumpkin or Chocolate Marshmello Almond Crunch. Some still remember the man who stood behind the counter, scoop in hand, ready to serve.

And for those who continue to order their favorite flavors through the mail, Pat Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream is an Endicott institution and the taste of home.

I remember getting Pat Mitchells ice cream and then sitting on the wall in the cemetary next to the store and eating it. It truly is the best ice cream I have ever had. It was a sad day when they destroyed the original store to widen Main St., which didnt need to be done and was a total waste of money.

Dzuba said she regularly ships ice cream to a person in North Carolina.

Now that I know I can order it by mail, I will be added to their North Carolina list.

Endicott Bump. Ever have Pat Mitchells? I suspect the lines will be long today and through the holidays.

Surely someone got fat eating his ice cream. Has he been sued yet?

Mrs. Fierro was just recalling when they served Mitchell's ice cream at her dorm at SUNY Binghamton.

I recently made pounds and pounds of venison spiedies. They are my favorite. I love lamb ones too but my wife doesnt like lamb so I rarely make them.

First of all, I goofed the spelling. It's "spiedie". I must've been listening to a Hooked on Phonics commercial when I posted it, LOL. You (or the Mrs.) were close on the spiedie guess.....

What's a Spiedie?

Spiedies, (pronounced "speedies"), are marinated cubes of meat cooked on a skewer. Originally from Italy, this delicacy seems to be found only in the Broome County area of New York State. How and when spiedies came to this area, having never been documented, remains a mystery.

Traditionally, spiedies were made from lamb. Today, however, they are made from lamb, pork, chicken, veal, venison, and beef. The cubes of meat are marinated in a sauce as varied as the types of people that enjoy them.
