Why is it that these storms seem to hit at commute home time? Monday it took me 2 hours to drive the 23 miles home. I may have to stop for a pint tonight if that is the case again..

Depends on the drive home.

This Wednesday we baby sat with our grandkids in Eastern Contra Costra county. Our DIL on her way home got a cell call from the Ford Garage that her SUV was ready. So by the time that she finally got home, and we could leave it was 5:30 pm. I told my wife that we might be two to three hours getting home.

4 eastbound had minimal traffic we averaged 65 mph. Then we got on 80 N. and I had people flashing their lights at me while I was in the far right lane doing 70 mph. We got to the toll gate and there was no one in line. Again I was doing 70 and getting flashing lights in the right lane.

We turned off on 37 West in the fastest time we have driven that stretch on 80N in about 20 years. My wife called and made dinner reservations in downtown Napa on my cell phone. We pulled in the parking lot 1 hour and 5 minutes after leaving our DIL. It was 62 miles from their house to the parking lot. We were 15 minutes ahead of the reservation time.

That same morning it took my son 1.5 hours go about 20 miles west on 4. He got home in about an hour which is about normal.
