I am not so sure about wind. I looked into a couple of newspapers weather pages, and didn't see 100 mph winds, but did see heavy rain and mudslides. Mudslides could easily wipe out multiple toweres within the same right-of=ways.

Check the Antelope Valley in the High Desert. We were without electricity here for 11 hours and some of the power poles looked like a game of pickup sticks.
