Bingo! We need to dig up evidence on Byrd's Klan days and the extent of his participation. Maybe he could be prosecuted as aiding organized crime! If he, as he stated, joined the Klan for "excitement" the most exciting thing the Klan was doing was lynchings. They were all very open and public, too, so I wouldn't be surprised if in some attic there is a photo of Byrd proudly standing next to a lynching victim!
