[history]
A researcher might rewrite the books on acne with his findings that candy, carbohydrates and cola play an important role in the skin disease after all.
Professor Loren Cordain of Colorado State University studied thousands of hunters, gatherers and farmers in Paraguay and Papua New Guinea whose diets contained no bread, cake, sugar, soft drinks, potato chips or pizza, and he didn't find a single case of acne.

I'd like to make their kind of money to come out with pronouncements like these and rediscover what everyone knows already.

My wife is told to this day by a Dermatologist friend of hers that acne has nothing to do with diet, and my wife agrees with him. I think I will be showing them this article for discussion...

Chocolate and cashews for me. It's a real shame, because I love both...

Maybe that dermatologist is abiding by the faulty study? Diet does cause acne in some people. On the other hand is all acne diet related?

Is it possible that dermatologists have been swayed by the drug companies? Accutane is obscenely expensive, not always effective, and very dangerous. It causes a permanent alteration of the sebaceous gland cells, which prevents acne the same way a stomach bypass prevents obesity. In addition, some accutane users have suffered profound depression caused by the drug. But the same doctors who are eager to recommend this treatment will lie to your face that chocolate does not cause acne. In my family, chocolate causes severe cysts. Every time our school had its annual fundraising drive, selling "World's Finest Chocolate, my brothers' complexions revealed that they had "sold" most of their bars to themselves. Fortunately I can't stand chocolate.
