Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott's racial comments

Notice they didn't mention the "racial comments". The facts would have detracted from the story.

The republican party is being split in two parts.

The problem is that this would not have been a big deal if Bush had not decided ot cover his A$$ by attacking Lott. Bush and Rove were certain that Lott would go belly up. Lott has not gone belly up and I don't think he will.

I would suspect that at this point Lott will just disappear from public until January 6th.

Then it is likely he will play hardball. If they vote him out he will resign his senate seat. He will say he is sorry but there is obviously no way to earn redemption. He has tried his best and that is obviously not enough. He will say staying in the senate when you have lost the support of both parties is just not an option. He will add that the voters of Mississippi elected him, and they need a more effective voice in the senate than he can be. He will say he was elected to represent the people of Mississippi and he owes them the right to have an effective Senator. He will wish the Republican party much success and say a heartfelt thank you. Goodbye and God Bless.

Don't make waves. Whatever Jesse says, it's gotta be true.
