The Pentagon said Sunday that it has no information about an alleged movement into Northern Iraq from Turkey reported by Turkey's 'NTV' television network.

A Pentagon spokeman said 'I have nothing on that.'

A Turkish military spokesman declined to comment on the NTV report and a United States Embassy official in Ankara told Reuters:

'I have heard nothing, [the NTV report] is not substantiated.']

Even if it's just the Turkish press getting antsy, it sounds like the real thing is coming up fast.

It will start with massive air strikes.

...or with the infiltration of special forces; or with a naval bombardment; or with a Marine amphibious landing; or, maybe, even with the planting of false information in the Turkish press.

Guess.

I think two words would explain this..."material breach."

I think it's all part of psy-ops. Create reports of a coup in the works. Report that CIA agents with suitcases full of cash are buying Iraqi politicians. Hint that troops are already in place.

Turn Saddam Hussein into sadly insane.

It will start with massive air strikes.

Then send Tipper Gore and Gerald Nadler in after they both ate a whole bunch of beans. The Iraqis soldiers will be suffocating as our troops storm in and capture them.

Nor should you. Please keep your traps shut about troops on the move.

No, don't capture them. Just drop a single napalm bomb and the whole mess will go up in a giant methane fireball. Of course, deploying Tipper and Nadler in the way you describe may be against the Geneva Convention...

Nadler flatulence would be a violation of the Geneva accords bigtime. That stuff is probably worse than chlorine, mustard, and VX combined. Besides despite that fact that such a rancid load of BS probably couldn't be manufactured outside the bowels of an American liberal why take the chance? The Iraqis might be able to synthesize it if they got a sample. Don't we get enough of that gaseous reflux already?

It will start with massive air strikes.

That's the conventional wisdom, and it's probably right.

But maybe to achieve surprise they will start moving in quickly, and then launch the massive air strikes, in order to catch the Iraqis off guard.

It would be risky, but could really pay off if they came in fast enough (less time to organize defenses = easier time fighting in urban areas)
