Again, somebody prints the B.S. that Lott is in line for the Presidency. As life stands today, here is the line of Presidential Succession.
The Vice President Richard Cheney
Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert
President pro tempore of the Senate Robert Byrd
Secretary of State Colin Powell
Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neill
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld
Attorney General John Ashcroft
Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton
Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman
Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans
Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao
Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy G. Thompson
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Mel Martinez
Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta
Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham
Secretary of Education Roderick Paige
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi
The President Pro Tempore is typically the member of the majority party with the most seniority. Trent Lott is not even the senior senator from Mississippi. Thad Cochran is. Trent is not in line for the White House.

President pro tempore of the Senate Robert Byrd There's a former member/recruiter for the KKK in line for the presidency? A man who used the enwurd in reference to a block of people several times on tv last year?
Why aren't people asking for him to step down?!! Oh, that's right, the Rats wouldn't have had control of the Senate (or would have needed to orchestrate another backroom deal to turn another Republican's party affiliation).
