I was very torn about this whole situation until I heard that he said he would resign if forced out.
That told me all I need to know about how much Lott cares about the party and this country.
And if he stays on, I won't be able to respect the OTHER senators who let Lott blackmail them.

I don't think he said that. Its a internet smear story from the left wing nuts! I could be wrong but from what I have seen on the net its a guess.

Are you sure the blackmail story is true? Someone in Lott's office said it was not. Granted, the guy may have been freelancing, or maybe Lott is sending out conflicting signals. The conference call story turned out to be bogus.

That idea was floated but never confirmed, and the WashPost repudiated the story being put out by MSNBC on this matter.It was a fabrication, and it didn't happen.
