Sink, you've stated many times that if Lott is forced to resign from the leadership, he'll resign from the
Senate. That's quite possible, and would be the disaster scenario, as you've also noted.

Suppose his collegues, in a procedurally correct way, hold another ML election, which is won by someone else? Would
that save him enough face, do you think? After all, being a US Senator is not something to be lightly tossed away.

I don't know.

All I know is, when Bob Dole ran for President, he left his Majority Leader's job, and then the Senate.

When Newt Gingrich left the Speakership, he left the House.

When Bob Livingston revealed his affair, he left the Speakership and left the House.

Republicans, when they step down or lose powerful positions, don't stick around.

I'd be shocked if Lott stayed, especially since he's essentially been branded a racist.

I wouldn't stay, I don't care what the ramifications are.

I'm not going to leave my job over something I'm not.
