What does that have to do with this thread....Just a bit more than this photo!

" Well I ask you, how much loyalty would you feel for your own party if it falsely branded you a racist and shamed you in front of the whole country, then forced you from your post, hmmm? " Irrelevant. That's not what's happening. We're "branding" him a bumbling fool, not a racist. It would be like Daschle making comments that defend Communist atrocities. Lott knows better, but arrogantly and repeatedly behaves like this anyway.

Hi, texas! Good to talk with you again! This President has run rings around the RATS and the anti-Bushies can't stand it. Oh, well. His approval ratings remain in the mid-60's because MOST Americans can plainly see that he's doing a heck of a good job.

Notice what time it was posted? After the press conference that Lott gave Friday night. Notice the words Rumour was used twice and notice how the rats used blackmail both ways. Against the WH and against Lott. They are not going to stop smearing with lies till they get back their power and lott is the first target!

If Lott is replaced as Senate Majority Leader, I would be very surprised to see him pull a Jeffords, if that's what you are thinking. Just mho.....
To: willstayfree
I agree. Lott is a terrible ML, but this is not the time to sack him. Hopefully he'll learn, that no matter how much you give in to the left, they will always take any opportunity to damage you or even remove you from power if they can. It doesn't pay to appease the left. In this case, the left is lying about Lott, even though he caved in to their agenda not to long ago.

If you succeed, your award will be shared leadership, lost perks and lost chairmanships. Fight!! And you're just fine with that? Blackmail?
You cannot possibly be a conservative. Go back to DU.

Good grief! I can't even believe you are now on the "one-term president" bandwagon. Save your post. I think you'll eat some crow in November, 2004.
To: texasbluebell
"Why do we need to lose the majority if he just steps down from the ML position? He should certainly NOT resign from his Senate seat." He apparently made that threat. See #541

Like I said earlier about the republicans, since Bush and Powell slammed our Christian leaders we have had nothing but losses since and this is going to be the biggest one. Kiss the senate goodbye, if you are all allowed to tarnish Lott who will be next? So be it. God does have a sense of humour!
I agree with you completely on Bush and Powell. Their vicious attacks on our nation's Christian leaders was very disturbing. Bush has also been very vocal and public in his condemnation of Trent Lott. However, I'm not sure I disagree with his critique of Lott who has tarnished himself. There is nothing that I or others can do to tarnish him further. The best way to remedy the scandal sparked by his remarks is to resign and cut a deal for the Commerce Committee Chairmanship where no one would complain about him or use his image to defeat Republicans and overturn GOP control of both houses of Congress in the next election cycle.
If you truly support continued GOP control of Congress beyond 2004, you will join the effort to encourage a challenge to his leadership from the Christian right--Don Nickles--a man you have condemned as some kind of traitor to what we do not know. Nickles is a champion of Christian conservative principles and will not wimpily comply with Daschle's wishes as Lott oftentimes has, nor will he roll over and play dead when Bush is pushing a bad policy against conservative ideals. Lott will not resign this session although he may announce his resignation to take effect at the end of the 107th Congress to allow time for a special election to replace him. Of course, that crisis is resolved by making him Commerce Committee Chairman and providing him a graceful exit as I have long advocated.

But what you're saying doesn't make any sense... because McCain if Lott is out loses his chairmanship... You think McCain rather have Rudman on the 9/11 comm rather than his chair and that is how the Dems and McCain are going to get to Bush? Huh? I'm sorry but this is the most convoluted argument I've ever heard...
To: Bella_Bru
This leads me to believe 2A rights are not the least bit important to Rove. I've come to the identical conclusion.
To: wolf24
The lying news media, the democrat party, and a bunch of spineless republicans who should be able to spot a democratic dirty trick when they see it instead of piling on a fellow party member to settle an old score! I am not a member of either party although I have voted for republicans all of my life but if they are going to go along with character assassination in league with the leftist news media and the democrats, I will have to change that.
To: TLBSHOW
And YOU posted it minutes ago!
To: TLBSHOW
Rove is the problem...sure thing. He has been a disaster for Bush and Republicans since being Bush's chief political adviser all these years.Yeah...
Take a pill.

Normally, their is a special election within 90 days. However, in a year when their is a state-wide election (which 2003 is in Mississippi) then the governor can appoint through the November election.
To: Torie
Why would Rove go to Lindsay knowing about his support of McCain?
To: Rye
Which would also make me question our President's stance on them.
To: OldFriend
I find this an interesting comment since there hasn't been an election for the senate majority leader.
Actually, there has been. Lott called it with almost no notice on November 12th to avert a challenge to his leadership. As Nickles had dropped out of the race the month prior, Lott was unanimously re-elected to his post. This time, its going to be very different. Lott is toast.
