SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Community colleges across California are receiving millions of dollars in extra state funds by boosting enrollment figures with high school students who get college credit for athletic programs, a newspaper reported.
The students, sometimes pressured by their coaches, sign up for college physical education classes that are nothing more than regular practices or off-season workouts at high school campuses, according to an investigative series by The Orange County Register that concluded Saturday.
