Does he really need to keep dragging this out?
And does Rove and the RNC think that more stuff will come out this weekend so they can respond to it on BET?

What the h!ll does Lott expect to gain by this? He's got nothing to gain, and the GOP has everything to lose by this. It's time for Bush to go to Lott and demand that either his brains or his signature goes on his resignation as Majority Leader.

Does he really need to keep dragging this out? He's not the one dragging this out. A-holes in Congress and the media keep badgering him about it. if the first heart-felt apology wasn't good enough for them, he should tell them to all go ef themselves. Maybe he should tell them that if Clinton didn't have to resign for misconduct in the Oval Office, then he sure as heck wouldn't resign his post for having his words misinterpreted.
I've not heard what "all these problems" means, but a go slow approach to segregation/integration might have prevented "all these problems" we have with the welfare state. Maybe if the races were kept separate for a little while longer, the black middle class might have had a chance to flourish and families could have passed the work ethic and a respect for education on to the next generation. Instead we have problems with people who don't want to work and expect the government to provide their every need. That's what I think "all these problems" means.

This is what Lott should have done. He should have said, just one time.. "I AM OFFENDED THAT ANYBODY WOULD ACCUSE ME OF BEING A RACIST. MY RECORD... MY ACTIONS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW ME AND MISINTERPRETED MY GOODNATURED PRAISE FOR AN AGING COLLEAGUE AS A RACIST STATEMENT, THEN I APOLOGIZE. I HOPE YOU TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EXAMINE WHAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS DONE FOR PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS. THERE IS NOTHING MORE THAT NEEDS TO BE SAID.
