God, what a stupid thing to say. No, ace, ALL people of good will were offended.

Sorry, lots of people saw it for what it was, a stupid, off-hand remark at a tribute for an old man.

You've apparently got your racial trip-wires in place.

Nobody paid any attention to what Lott said until Jesse Jackson, after Mary Landrieu wins her Senate seat, sets up Tim Russert on MTP, feigning outrage. Carl Levin, big time Democrat from Michigan, was also at the BD party, as was Paul Simon, former Senator from Illinois, who said he was surprised at the reaction, as he knew Lott meant nothing by what he said.

Bush waited six days to voice his outrage if, indeed, he was outraged.

This is such a phoney "crisis." I'm frankly surprised you've gotten sucked in by it.

I agree.

This was phony from the get go.

There is nothing to see here.

But I hand it to Bush. He sure seems to know what moves to make and when to make them. It will be interesting to see how he makes this work for him but I am sure he will.

Maybe there is someone who can take over for Lott but none here seem to be supporting anyone else they are just Anti-Lott.

Come on either tell me why someone else would be better or shut up. Why do republicans pile on their own players. Instead we need to help them up out of their messes. We can show them the door later if necessary.
