Lott ain't going no damn where yet.

This is yet another apology, timed so that it can go on the evening talking head-casts. Then the Dems will use the Sunday morning shows to rip him apart yet again. Unless something miraculous occurs, Lott'll be history by Tuesday.

IF that's the case, then why is he doing it late Friday afternoon? That's when it would get the least amount of coverage.

The only miracle I want would be Lott graciously stepping down as majority leader today, and stating he will not seek reelection when his current term is up.

Sometimes there is just a right thing to do and a wrong thing. The politics of this aside, both as the descendent of Southerners and as a Republican, I think there is no place in public life for a man who has consistently espoused openly racist sentiments over the past 40 years. Not once, not just a long, long time ago, but over the years pretty consistently. He's gotta go.
