A bundle of neuroses sheathed in a giant putz....

Al Gore, the defeated presidential candidate in 2000, has indicated to friends he is to abandon the quest to become president..............
It seems that yet another count came in and I think he is finally getting the message that he lost.

Algore has the '04 nomination in the bag. If he wants it.
To: MadIvan
a decision of tragic proportions for the former vice-president. tragic proportions?!?! LOL!
To: MadIvan
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
To: MadIvan
Mr Gore's expected withdrawal ... would mark a decision of tragic proportions for the former vice-president. As the vice president's continued candidacy would mark a decision of tragic proportions for the country.

Algore has the '04 nomination in the bag. If he wants it. Yup, that's why I don't believe any of this and won't until it actually came to pass. I think this is a ploy by Gore to get sympathy, since everything else he's done so far apparently hasn't worked--his gazillion appearances on tv, his book tour/sales, media bias whining, etc etc etc . . .

Don't you just love it when someone who is almost universally reviled says "I'm willing to let someone else carry the torch"?
Come on, Al, go for it. Let's see you finally buried. Once and for all.

I think this is a ploy by Gore to get sympathy He'll be sorely disappointed if that's so - most people, even on this side of the Atlantic, just want him to go away.

...and is said to have been distressed by press comment that he is reinventing himself once again in preparation for a presidential run.The jerk has "re-re-re-re-re-re-invented" himself so many times, I'm surprised he doesn't have fur on his palms and walking around blind.

I think Al Gore Sr. angled for the Vice Presidential nomination in 1956, but didn't get it, of course.
Gore Jr. can model himself on Richard Nixon, who skipped the next election and then came back to win 8 years after his initial defeat. Only Gore should have lost a statewide race in Tennessee this year to make the analogy closer...maybe the book tour is an equivalent humiliation. Of course Gore lacks Nixon's charm and charisma.

He not only has it in the bag... he'g gonna take it!
I don't care what the Daily Telegraph says. He is doing everything to position himself to run. He's just trying to drum up interest and excitement. [Don't laugh.. he's serious.]
Take a look at what he's done in the last year. Went on a big diet to remove what he gained after the post-election binge and then gets his name not only one one book, but TWO! Count em.... whooo.... [or rather, whoopi-do!]
He's gonna run. You can take that to the bank. He's only got to knock Kerry out early (which shouldn't be too hard) and then he's halfway home.

Several of Mr Gore's closest friends told The New York Times that he was inclined to retire to a private life of teaching and writing and had stopped cultivating not been able to fool the big-money donors and political kingmakers needed for another presidential run.

Don't you just love it when someone who is almost universally reviled says "I'm willing to let someone else carry the torch"? Nope. The Torch (Toriccelli)got "torched" for bribery and racketeering, and stepped down. Now NJ has Lautenburg on their hands.
